Rottweiler : : Female : : Medium
Learn more about the Rottweiler. Skylar needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start? The current owner received Skylar as a puppy when she was 6 weeks old and unforntunately some life changes for the owner has prompted her to adopt Skylar to a good home. She loves Skylar enormously and wants only the best for her. Skylar is currently 14 months old. She has been regularly playing and socializing at the Reedy Creek dog park and everyone (i.e. to include all people and dogs) loved her there. Skylar loves to play with other dogs and people of all different sizes and shapes, however, Skylar has a very high prey drive and is an extreme Alpha female. She has a Schutzhund I rated Grandfather (Score 280), and would be best suited for a home as an only dog or with an Alpha male capable of keeping her high drive and Alpha female tendencies in check. She would make a good working Schutzhund or K-9 dog if properly trained and is at the right age for a female to begin training. She is very lovable and loves to play and sometimes does not know her own size as she is a larger female, but still a puppy at only 14 months old. She has been spayed and while being spayed she also had stitches put in her stomach to make sure she would never have to worry about bloat. She is up to date on all of her shots and normal vet visits. She has great teeth, a beautiful coat and is otherwise very healthy. She loves ice and raw hide bones (the bigger the better). She loves to ride in the car and likes to go everywhere with you. She is very calm and quiet in the car. She walks well on a leash using a gentle lead, although she doesn’t want to put it on sometimes, but with a treat she will do it. She graduated from Obedience Class at Pet Smart. She has also had individual training with one other dog privately at home. She loves to jump on you and give you hugs but she will get off if you tell her or if you turn your back on her. She knows her basic obedience well as she will sit, down, stay, wait and come. She has a high food drive, so additional training should be very easy. She is a very confident female that is not afraid of thunder or other loud noises. She has lived with a large male Hound Dog, and has played at the dog park with all size dogs and is great with them, however, she is still a puppy and does not know her own strength yet, so she can play a little rough with little dogs from time to time. She is house and crate trained. She is absolutely an awesome dog that would be great for a family.
